    Class Biography: An Infested Marine that somehow survived the purge of Apollo. Much about Otis is “A SEEKRIT”, such as how he manifested his strange powers or how he remains in active service.

    Restricted to the Infested Rifle weapon and the Infested Claw sidearm.
    Effect: Description says it all. Otis gets the same movement speed bonus on creep that other Infested do.

    Level 2: Deals 100 damage and lowers movement speed by 20% for 5 seconds.
    Level 3: Deals 150 damage and lowers movement speed by 30% for 5 seconds.

    Ability Description:
    Otis can conjure up a sphere of fire that will explode after being thrown. The flames are the hottest at the center of the explosion, dealing more damage to enemies closer to the center.

    Level 1: Deals up to 200 damage in a 4 radius.
    Level 2: Deals up to 400 damage in a 4 radius.

    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Throw a flaming sphere that explodes upon impact, dealing up to [200/400] damage in a 4 radius. Deals less damage the further from the center of the explosion.

    Ability Name: CHAIN LIGHTNING
    Ability Description:
    Otis can summon crackling electricity and fling it at enemies, shocking enemies that it arcs towards. If the electricity cannot find another target to "bounce" to, the remaining damage will be dealt to the final target.

    Level 1: Deals 50 damage to up to 5 enemies and stuns them for 0.2 seconds.
    Level 2: Deals 50 damage to up to 10 enemies and stuns them for 0.4 seconds.

    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Throw lightning that deals 50 damage and stuns for [0.2/0.4] seconds and bounces to a maximum of [5/10] nearby targets. If the electricity cannot find another target, the remaining damage will be dealt to the final target.

    FINGER OF DEATH
    Ability Description:
    Otis can store an enormous amount of energy in his hand and then discharge it into an enemy by stabbing them, dealing a huge amount of damage and, as the name implies, probably killing them.

    Level 1: Dash towards the targeted enemy and deal 3000 damage on impact.

    Dash towards the targeted enemy and deal 3000 damage on impact.

    Effect: Otis cannot cast this unless he is within walking distance of the enemy. Once within walking distance, Otis will dash towards the enemy (probably using Charge or slap +5 MS on him) and deal 3000 damage to it once within collision distance.

    Ability Description:
    Otis can cultivate caustic poison within his body and spray it from his chest cavity, dealing damage over time to all enemies caught within it.

    Level 1: Deals 15 damage per second and slows enemies by 20% in an area for 90 seconds.

    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Spew a cloud of caustic poison that covers a 5 radius area for 90 seconds, dealing 15 damage per second and slowing movement and attack speed by 20% to all enemies within the cloud.

    Ability Description:
    Otis’s friend Sally comes to help out! Sally can lob globs of acid at enemies like a mortar.

    Level 1: Sally appears to assist Otis in his quest.
    Level 2: Sally gains increased attack speed.
    Level 3: Sally’s attacks leave behind pools of acid that deal damage over time.

    “SHE’S A REALLY GOOD KISSER IF YOU CAN TOLERATE SOME ACID BURNS”
    Effect: Summons Sally to your side.


    Ability Name: SYLVESTER
    Ability Description:
    Otis’s friend Sylvester arrives on the scene! Sylvester can stab enemies from a considerable distance and cause bleeding.

    Level 1: Sylvester appears to assist Otis on his quest.
    Level 2: Sylvester gains increased range.
    Level 3: Sylvester gains increased attack speed.

    Ability Description:
    Otis’s friend Todd shows up! Todd flies around and shoots venom bolts at nearby enemies.

    Level 1: Todd appears to assist Otis on his quest.
    Level 2: Todd gains increased attack speed and venom potency.

    Effect: Summons Todd to your side.


    Ability Name: MULLIGAN
    Ability Description:
    Mulligan is not actually one friend, but many! They’re a colony of enormous flies that nest in Otis’s chest cavity.

    Level 1: Mulligan appears to assist Otis on his quest.
    Level 2: Mulligan will linger on enemies and deal more damage.

    “YOU WOULD THINK THAT HAVING SO MANY FRIENDS WOULD BE AN ISSUE BUT THEM ALL HAVING THE SAME NAME AND PERSONALITY SIMPLIFIES THINGS”
    Effect: Summons Mulligan to your side.

    BIG JOSH
    Ability Description:
    Otis calls upon Big Josh for aid! Big Josh cannot be picked up because he is Big, but will pick up Otis instead! Big Josh will stomp around for a while and then explode, sharing his friendship with everyone nearby.

    Level 1: Big Josh appears to assist Otis on his quest, picking up Otis and going for a joyride for 20 seconds.

    “BIG JOSH LIKES TO PARTY HARD AND IT USUALLY RESULTS IN HIM DYING BUT IT’S OKAY BECAUSE HE GETS BETTER”
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Summon Big Josh to your side! Big Josh will pick up Otis and take him for a ride for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds have passed, Big Josh will explode, dealing half of his remaining health in damage to nearby enemies.

    Effect: An Infested Drop Pod falls on Otis. On impact, Big Josh spawns and automatically picks up Otis. See the unit stat block for more details.

    Ability Name: BEST FRIENDS
    Ability Description:
    Otis likes his friends so much that he clones them!

    Level 1: All active friends are duplicated, causing one group to always be wandering and one group always riding around with Otis.

    “THIS IS AWESOME, NOW I CAN SPEND TWICE AS MUCH TIME WITH THEM”
    Effect: All active friends are duplicated. The duplicates take the slot that the originals are not currently occupying – if the originals are equipped to Otis, the duplicates will spawn as wanderers. If the originals are wanderers, the duplicates will spawn equipped to Otis. This Tier 3 deactivates the ability to pick up and drop off friends.

    General Information:
    Aside from BIG JOSH, Otis only has two castable abilities (which is actually an on/off toggle with different names) obtained upon leveling any skill from the FRIENDS FOREVER tree:

    Ability Name: PICKUP ARTIST (Toggle On)
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Bring all of your friends to your side and give them a ride. Friends will no longer attack passively, but will gain increased range and attack what Otis targets.
    Ability Filters: Self
    Effect: All active friends are commanded to approach Otis and then jump on. Once on Otis, friends gain +5 weapon range that lasts until they get off.

    Ability Name: THIS IS YOUR STOP (Toggle Off)
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Drop off your friends so they can wander about on their own. Friends will attack nearby enemies passively.
    Ability Filters: Self
    Effect: All active friends are commanded to return to their wandering. Any friends that were on their way to Otis will have their previous order to approach him canceled and any friends riding Otis will hop off.

    Friend Information:
    • All of the abilities aside from Big Josh are passive and the related friends are summoned automatically.
    • Sally, Sylvester, Todd, and Mulligan are invulnerable, non-selectable, have no collision, and are uncontrollable. However, they are vulnerable to stuns, slows, and push forces that would affect Biological and Light units.
    • If Otis dies, all of his Friends die too.
    • When not picked up, all friends will wander randomly within 5 radius of Otis. During this time, they can attack on the move, but will not move to attack enemies – they will only attack if an enemy is within range. If they pass outside of this radius, they will immediately move to follow him. If they pass outside of 12 range, they will teleport to him.
    • While picked up, friends cannot attack on the move, gain 5 weapon range, and will target what Otis targets with his attacks.

    Effect: Big Josh automatically picks up Otis when summoned. During this time, Otis is invulnerable and automatically attacks enemies without consuming ammunition. Other friends remain equipped if they were equipped when Big Josh was summoned.

    Ability Name: TOO LOUD FOR GHOSTS
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Big Josh attracts the undivided attention of all nearby enemies.
    Effect: Either Big Josh has a huge threat rating or a permanent taunt.

    Ability Name: NONSTOP SERVICE
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Big Josh cannot stop moving!
    Effect: Big Josh constantly walks forward and has a very large push priority.

    Ability Name: MEGATON WALK
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    Big Josh’s footsteps deal 20 damage per second to nearby enemies.
    Effect: Deal 20 damage per second to all enemies within a 3.5 radius.

    Ability Name: THAT PARTY WAS A BLAST
    Ability Button Description/Tooltip:
    After 20 seconds, Big Josh explodes, dealing his remaining health in damage to all nearby enemies and knocking them back a distance of 2. Otis is dropped harmlessly.
    Effect: After 20 seconds, Big Josh explodes, dealing his remaining health in damage in a 3.5 radius and knocking back enemies a distance of 2. Otis is dropped harmlessly and becomes vulnerable/controllable as soon as he lands on solid ground.

    On a more serious note though, holy mass passives vs mass actives trees. I like Wizerd Magic more to be honest, having something to do sounds way more appealing than just having a built-in mini squad on you that you control with one click. Not to mention one of the T3s basically removes the only active thing you do on that tree. Also:

    Playing as or winning as? Because I can see a lot of "farming" Otis by going into game, randoming, saving and leaving.

    The Friends Forever tree is inspired by the Diablo II Necromancer, a character that has the potential to beat the game without clicking on a single enemy for the entire run. Doing so requires careful management of your skeletons, your mercenaries, and your skillpoints. Of course, it would be so much more efficient if you would just hit something, but I found the concept of a character that could do this to be amusing and worth exploring for a secret/joke character. If the player isn't interested in that, then as you say - there's always Wizards. The tree successfully offers a completely different playstyle from its counterpart, so I am content.

    I'm not going to reveal the actual system, but let's just say for the sake of argument that playing as Otis earns 1 Otis Point and winning as Otis earns many more than that. If someone wants to farm Otis by randoming and leaving, they'll be at it for quite a while.

    OMG YES! I'm so happy, thank you! i feel like I'm going to like the FRIENDS tree the most
    shooting lightning and fire is cool, but its the best when you have minions do all of the work for you, FO minis are pretty cool but now you've got otis minis! -linkin park :(

    Finger of Death's Cooldown is too long in comparison to Cloudkill. Otherwise, all is good.

    I'll probably still give the Friends Forever tree a shot because I'm a lazy asshole and that tree feels like you can play 1-hand NOTD quite easily. Not that I've played D2 before, but Necromancer sounds like you'd actually have to manage your minions properly? Friends Forever seems to automate a whole lot.


    Fair enough then. Just looking for potential exploits that could be nipped in the bud.

    If you build Necromancer correctly you don't have to do much more than walk around. Summon Skeleton + Skeletal Mastery + Amplify Damage (or Decrepify if you feel like investing) is the winning combo. It gets even sillier if you grab an Act 2 hireling with an Offensive Aura.

    This is beautiful, though if he doesn't listen to Linken Park how is a dark and tragic soul like mine supposed to empathize with Otis?

    But no seriously it looks incredibly fun, the weapons look neat, Wizard looks pretty RIP AND TEAR, and with the Friends tree I can finally have friends of my own!

    Glad you like it.

    It's a joke character, it's not supposed to be serious. Or plausible.

    I'll adjust it. In retrospect, the fact that Otis has to get within melee range to use it and it takes off a third of his health is a fine enough balance mechanic.

    I might, emphasis on might, make the Infested Rifle an unlockable weapon. No promises though.

    Why, yes! Otis is in the Caster category. The others have not yet been decided, but I do know that the Heavy will be something that veteran community members have seen before.

    No, the Friends are summoned automatically and at no cost to Otis.

    Nope. His advantages of an enormous health regeneration rate and immunity to Venom balance out the fact that he is exceptionally vulnerable to hits. Also the fact that he can eat a Medkit to fuel a magical rampage considering that he casts from health.
