    NOTD 2: Accolades
    One hell of a salad

Presenting NOTD 2's achievement/reward system, providing players with a wide variety of buffs that can be earned by completing challenges and other tasks.
    • When an accolade is earned, progress will automatically be saved so it cannot be lost.
    • The first accolade earned will be automatically equipped, but will not take effect until the next match.
    • It is intended to be that the more difficult an accolade is to obtain, the more effective it will be.
    • Unless otherwise specified, accolades effects only apply to your character.
    • You may only have one accolade equipped at a time.

This will be fine, but will be favored early for fast rank up or late for the grind (if there is one)

Will only be used for the occasional cosemetic, more likely to be used on easier difficulties, unless higher difficulties give far more credits.

Will be used as a replacement for NVG

Very class specific, FO and Engineer basically.

Mandatory Recon. Recon will be able to gather all items that are consumable without ever having to worry of making it back to the team to drop

Good but will be heavily favored by pure DPS and pure tanks. Mid range classes (Medic, Rifleman, Engineer, etc.) will probably skip this.

Squishes will take this often, maybe some midrange classes. Tanks will take this at first, but learn to skip it, since it will not help against bosses (changes a 1 shot to a 2 shot at best).

Tanks will probably take this instead, as a means to bail them out of that one boss fight gone wrong.

If this removes sprint energy cost, will be very favored by Medics, Recons, and Marksman.

May be used by Assault to achieve 100% crit rate, but probably unncessary. Rifleman may take this as part of the Combat tree, maybe Combat Engineers as well.

Possibly useless, since all this will do is fend off one ailment statck of Venom or Open Wound. Hard hitting bosses means this is useless for such fights.

Tricky, Assault Tank may love it, but depends on various things.

May be used by those wielding slow weapons a great deal, mostly I see Marksman using this

Teams who are counting on fast T3 will use this on DPS classes probably, maybe Demo tanks.

Arms Assault will use this, maybe Opcomm with a Heavy Machine Gun, but difficult to tell.

Recon may use this, depends on how much people run and gun.

    Probably useless.

    Demo Tank, maybe others, Flamethrower.

    Probably useless.

I will consider altering Health Regeneration's values, but I don't want to make it so it's easy to walk off ailments.

As for the "probably useless" medals (notably weapon swap and turn speed), not all medals are created equal. The more difficult they are to obtain the more useful they will be, and there are a handful of medals that will be easy to earn but not do very much. All medals are intended to be situational and benefit specific playstyles rather than being baseline buffs.

The attack speed and crit chance medals will be used the most by good players. Will recommend toning down the effects to +20% attack speed and +8% crit chance respectively.

On some more 'useless' medals, agree with AP. Even if they are easier to get, if no one uses them, it becomes a redundant feature imo.

Overall, the concept works. However, too much choice (in this case) can be frustrating or confusing. Will try to limit it to a max of 5-10 core benefits maybe. You can always add more later as update features if people are still screaming for more choice.

I'll adjust the attack speed one, but not the critical strike one. It's already weak enough (comparatively). I'll figure something out to replace turn speed, at least - swap speed has a niche, however small, and it makes for a good low-effort reward like extra hitpoints.

I'm not a fan of cutting back on choice because it might be a problem, especially when one of NOTD 2's main selling points is being able to customize your character and your playstyle. The worst that can happen is someone will take too much time to figure out what they want, which is not really a terrible thing in and of itself. I find it to be even less of an issue when we're going to have a single-player mode where they can take all the time they like to figure out customization.

So, I'm missing something here. Is one able to equip a badge AND a medal? Or is it just pick one of anything of the above and fuck the rest?

Okay. Then equip 40% reload buff and win at everything.

    Efficiency Medal is quite scary.

Indefinite stacking of Chain Explosives or Satchels sounds quite nice.

Yep. It will be of particular use to Drones, who will only have two Inventory spaces to work with due to their flight.

I see no reason to choose the Ops Mando's 25% damage boost with a negative 60% shields and health, when Combat Engi is 20% with no debuffs. Perhaps -60% shields instead of life and shields.

Edit: I noticed it said total damage for Ops instead of Engi's Weapon damage. Even given that, I feel that the debuff is still incredibly harsh for that. Although, I give leeway for UA3's Vet and Light Armor skills. Perhaps also increase speed? Or give the medal the gold reload affect for reloading with 2 rounds?

This still checks weight tolerance however. Anyhow i dont want to think of it otherwise.
Just increases healed amount by +20% HP or has other effects ?
Does total damage mean physical dps and ability damage ?
Is this dmg-resistance an armor buff or will there be an seperate mechanic for minis.
    Stacks up to ? times.

Do these take effect only with the class you earn them or can be equipped with any other class ?

In NOTD, it's entirely feasible for players to go entire games without getting hit. In NOTD 2, there are no ghouls, no huggers, and the ability to jump down from cliffs. The downside is harsh, but at the same time, 25% weapon AND ability damage will be incredibly powerful.

    Yes it does.

Increases the effects of healing items and healing abilities used by that player.

    Yes.

It's actual damage resistance. Minis will have armor just like everyone else.

It doesn't stack. Performing either action again will just refresh whatever buff you have equipped.

Badges may be equipped by any class, it's just that you can only earn them with the listed class.

I feel like you're missing the point. Horribly. What's the use of a hilariously long reload if you're an operations commando on the surg adren combo, with the +40% reload speed, AND you gold reload it? A potentially long reload becomes... potentially non-existent.

Edit: Or if you want to get sillier, nuke a large mob with the weapons tech badge on. It won't take too much to get a overly high damage nuke, unless it's just affecting base damage.

But yeah let's get silly with theory craft here. Operations commando with HMG set up.

Adren takes the rate of fire down to .03, Surgical and WE takes it to 126 damage/shot.

We're assuming pure additive reload reduction.

    Character mods
Splash takes it to 2.5 splash
    Reload speed adds 15%
Integrated suppressor reduces its noise value to 1

Items: HCM to further mitigate reloads. At an attack speed of .03 dealing out a whopping 126 damage/shot, this means you're doing 4200 dps, with minimal interruptions.

Adren surg combo chops off 50% of the reload, gold reload chops off another 50%, and the combat rifle buff chops off yet another 40%, bringing us down to 165% reload reduction. Meaning: Instant.

Farm for days with an HMG...
