Medic Heal Beam

    it seems level 1 heal heals more than 3 health per second

    how does heal beam work

    Here are the Heal effects and some of their fields:
    Code:
    Effect name              Recharge Vital Rate    Drain Vital Cost Factor
    Medic - Heal Level 1     9                      0.5

    According to the galaxyedit descriptions:
    "Recharge Vital Rate" is Amount of vital that can be healed to the target each tick.
    "Drain Vital Cost Factor" is Cost ratio of caster vital consumed to target vital healed.

    Each tick (second in our case) we can heal a certain amount of health. So for level 1 heal, we can heal 9 life per second. Energy cost to medic would then be 9 * 0.5 = 4.5 energy per second.
    From the perspective of energy, 1 point of energy translates into 1 / 0.5 = 2 Life points.

    Put it all in a nice table, and we get:

    The text descriptions actually say this:
    Heal Level 1: Heals a friendly biological target for 3 HP per second. Can also be used to Heal self.
    Heal Level 2: Heals a friendly biological target for 5 HP per second. Can also be used to Heal self.
    Heal Level 3: Heals a friendly biological target for 7 HP per second. Can also be used to Heal self.

    However, note that description for level 1 is not whats in the code. I can only assume someone messed up heal deliberately, and made level 1 immensely powerful by setting its heal rate to 9 instead of 3.

    So, for next patch its going to be:

    This should finally put an end to this debate why lvl 1 is better than lvl 3.

    Also updated descriptions:
    Heals a friendly biological target for 3 HP per second. 1 point of life costs 0.5 points of energy. Can also be used to Heal self.
    Heals a friendly biological target for 5 HP per second. 1 point of life costs 0.475 points of energy. Can also be used to Heal self.
    Heals a friendly biological target for 7 HP per second. 1 point of life costs 0.45 points of energy. Can also be used to Heal self.
