What if one of these two were possible?
    1. Purchase a mini from item shop that last's 1 mission (or till death)?
    500-1000 creds

    2. Purchase a mini that last threw multiple games till death?
    5k-10k creds

I was thinking a marine unit that escorts like ogy but is owned by player, yet player does not control similar to psi ops 2-10% chance to ally zombies on hits.

I think the focus of NOTD is on your own unit/hero rather than controlling an army with few exceptions, which are class specific.

Changing that balance and the subsequent requests for "i want to buy upgrades for my purchased minis" will turn this game into one of those garbage "special forces" games

hire-able mercenaries seems like a longshot idea, getting harder to believe in alpha and ridiculous for sec team

Well i think your right about that, but with creds pretty limited and time consuming, with the probability mini will die in vet or above i think it might be nice to have especially for a small team. Even just 500 cred should take a few survs to get and even more any other game type. Good point though.

Hahahaha oh man these would be the most insanely overpowered things ever. I'd price them at 1k credits at the very least, and only have them last a single game. The potential for abuse would be amazing, especially with the Delta Commando or the up-and-coming Forward Observer. God forbid you have both of them in a game. Heightened Senses and The Final Cut would push the minis into extreme overdrive. It'd be depressing to watch.

    Ghost is right bout that*
Sry bout format my phone sucks

Lol well if none controllable wont last long vs most bosses after 1st :p and i doubt many ppl would afford at 1k a pop per game exvept nm or vet games which makes life expectancy dven lower. Sry typos

Hell, even if you couldn't control the Mear, it would still be highly effective. Particularly if you could hire Mears who have better weapons like the Mk-3 or even an M45. Definitely would need to not share XP with whoever purchased it, least not fully like that bastard Ogilvy/Ivan, just have him give normal Shared XP amounts with players close by, not just the purchaser.

Limit 1 per game, no buying up 10 of them for a run and lul mode.

1s fine, but seem idk if they are so op why not many make it to end? And at almost every boss many die? And i was not thinking bout m45s cuz yeah 8 extras of those would be op. But realistically 8 players wont buy, and even if 3 or 4 bought, doubt they would make it to end of game. Only real good thing for them is if 1/2 team dies or nm mode. Either case doubt they will live. Not trying to argue just opinion :)

The problem of abuse with this is Bank back-ups, though, arguably a person could deck his team out and if the run fails use a back-up.

This was a subject of discussion in the Shop's first creation; it was deemed to be likely the most OP thing possible, though, that was around the time when 8 Gauss Rifles was sufficient DPS for most things.

I'd say expect 3500 + Gear, though rates for them, are 10x as expensive (items costing normally 50, cost 500 for them), because of transportation cost & Training Costs + Gear. They are hired Mercenaries, and as such, come expensive.

Either way, I don't support the idea because of how unbalancing it would be.

Even if it was limited to one per player, eight additional minis? It'd be like toting Charlie Company with you the entire game. EC would get stupid, AC would get stupider, and AS is balanced around not having very many heavy DPS sources, so... yeah. Bad plan overall.

^ what he said. This isn't melee, you don't get an army, and creating situations where it ends up as "throw money, win game" destabilizes the balance of credits' power in the game. Ideas like this are good to throw out there every now and again, but they carry an inherent danger that could unravel the very game mechanics we all know and love/hate.

Why would I waste my hard-earned credits on something that isn't aesthetic!?

I still want to sell my weapon mod to buy a Zergling...

lol exactly ArcRegen, the point is most ppl wouldnt buy them anyways, and Kith, you said 8 minis running around would ruin ec etc, but no way will 8 ppl buy in one game except MAYBE a vet game where ppl even have enough. Thats the drawback, expensive, probably die, and don't get to keep past game. Of course there will be abuse, trolls always troll no matter the subject. Anyways Item Shop was just an Idea thx for the feedback.

Spartan, a simple test to demonstrate why this would be very very powerful. During a pub or an organized game, examine the kill counts of the minis that are given to you from the mining camp. Assuming they survive the initial assault, I have seen the gauss man gain over 500 kills in a game, the flamer the same, and Stallens with a sniper has often out killed nearly all but the dps classes in both pubs and NM games. Simply put, the minis are not bound by the game's ammo or reload systems and thus become a direct dps boost to any team. A FO (both old and new) often trivializes certain parts of EC with his minis, giving everyone that power trivializes EC for all time.

If this was EVER implemented, the cost needed to deploy a mini would have to be EXTREME, on the order of 4 people dropping 10k credits for ONE mini.

mmm, the minis dont usually make it past eros 2, when I see them survive till end its random and depends on several factors that I dont feel like explaining to some one with way more xp than me. In solo yes, mini's if survived initial waves can beast, but multiplayer they hardly ever do, and yes this could be very very powerful but how many ppl in a pub game do you think will buy them? its like buying cats (at least price wise) every game to stay op with them. Its something that you will maybe see once in a while, like I said, except for vet and nm games. Mini's dont live past mines in those usually. Anyways, I think I'm done with this thread lol. Thx for everyones response's

And, what i ment in the second sentance is , in multiplayer they don't always survive, not they dont survive initial waves.

i like this idea of ''mercenaries''. Yes its powerful, Here my suggestion. We could just simply add a ''Time Limit''on a ''Calldown Mercenaries Items'', Can only be purchased only 1 per game of a duration of ''X'' Seconds/Minutes/Hours . Also it will come to you whit a ramdom weapon, Can be a flamer, Gauss or Sniper. The AI will be similar of the mini in AC but will always remain nearby the player who called it down. There will be only MAXIMUM of ''X'' Mercenaries on the field. (Instead of getting 8 at the same time)

Hey thats a pretty good idea, that way its not too Op. dunno if i like limit duration though :p its already limited to the 1 round . btw awesome suggestion :D
    [hr]
maybe have a max supply of 2 or 3 in item shop and when a player buys one -1 from item shop so total in entire game will only be 2-3?

For the reasons given above, NOTD should focus more on the individual hero vs. the potential to build up units that support you. If you want the latter, there's already Engy and FO.
