Uh. Unless they're jumping into banelings, congrats, you are outright wrong. One of the things that the Jumpfinder is specifically designed to do is jump to and save teammates.

I see you have a lot of new players in that game that didn't know what they were doing. Also that's 0 hits w/o shield hits counting as I see your shields are low.

Yes, that is correct. However, I will boldly even say that even with the shield mechanic that Ability Prematurely released, I probably could still manage to get an under 10 hits game with a path finder. I would have to change my play style with path finder a touch, but I think it is still manageable. I don't believe in anything being impossible.

My apologies for going off topic a little here, but I will mention an opinion of mine from observation. From what I see with players playing path finder right tree, many are using the path finder pretty aggressively and treating him more as an offensive based character as opposed to what he is suppose to be, which is purely defensive. People have to realize that his jumps have a radius towards them and if you attack enemies where they are close to the outer radius, then you should be fine although you there is a chance to snap directly on the enemy.

You should never be directly hitting the enemies with your jump and I think why people do that is mostly based on human nature to click their attacks directly on what they see.

Yes of course it's possible, but can you do it with 7 newer players that don't know what they're doing? Will you be as useful for all the jumps you didn't make, and did any teammates die for you not wanting to risk your rating? I play with a lot of new players and will put myself between them and death with a character like PF, not putting myself in danger of being killed, no different than a tank might, or a medic with nano-shield. Perhaps the pathfinder was made too durable to be punished as a light class from shield hits? The rating loss is just such a huge hit when all you did was keep people alive, which... is the point of the game?

For the last time, you don't take hits while jumping. Has been explained multiple times. I don't know how clearer we can make it. Maybe someone else can have a stab at it.

I didn't say u take hits while jumping, sometimes immediately following.

Make pathfinder less durable if he isn't supposed to be able to take shield hits.

    Also, this is good info

    Then why punish him? lol

Then don't stick around after you jump. Sprint out, or jump again.

I don't really go into a game with the necessary intention of achieving a 0 hits considering I've done it many time as evident in this thread. Also, I don't ever want to play in a selfish way where my team mates would have to sacrifice their lives just so that I can keep my ratings. I always preach team work in NOTD afterall. If a zero hits game happen for me now a days then it happens, if not then c'est la vie as one would say.

When I play with new players and this is in pub mind you I will of course save them should they be in danger(with path finder or any other class mind you). However, if it danger where it is not certain death, then I will let them get out of the danger themselves. This is just so that they can get hands on experience on what not to do to put themselves into that dangerous position in the first place.

Lastly, yes the point of the game is for everyone to be alive in the end regardless of game mode, game story, or w.e. However, it is not necessarily the action of one person that will guarantee that everyone lives. In order for everyone to live in the end, it must be a collective effort of team work by everyone within the game.

P.S here is my 0 hits for Survival NM. Don't mind Megs comment in chat, she was just jealous of my awesomeness.

Because it's pretty fucking unfair that he gets what is essentially hit immunity while most other classes don't. He's got tons of ways to mitigate getting hit - evasion, a potent slow, an increase in sprint speed coupled with a high base movespeed, de-aggroing while in midair, all sorts of shit. If you still manage to get hit after all that? That's your own fault, and you had better believe that I'm willing to punish that.

This game isn't focused on not being hit. You don't want hits play better use your allies as shield be selfish and see how fun that is for everyone. This is a team game. Not sure why everyone is always concerned about their own personal ratings.

The rating system is being reworked, it will not be released prematurely, this was a 1 off thing. Get over it.
So unless there are constructive suggestions on how to improve the shield hits or the rating itself, I really do not see why people are bothering posting critics and making up excuses to why this is bad etc. Its supported by many. Wait to see what it will look like after it is completed.

Also if people have not got experience with specific classes/modes/equipment, I personally advise these people to ask someone a tutorial etc or look at http://www.notdstarcraft.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=5 plenty of stuff there. If a classes etc is missing request it with a post im sure someone will be more than glad to help.

Vick, since I don't think you are a pf specialist due to your statements, I will say that PF jumper actually has too many ways of escape etc that he's pretty much immortal aslong as you don't waste jumps stupidly.

Technically, it is. As a survival game, it is focused on self preservation, but as a teamwork game, it is also focused on self preservation so you do not make the team weaker by lowering overall DPS and by expending the Medic's energy. It's a cooperative version of a Nash equilibrium, where one does what is best for oneself but also what is best for the group.

My apologies, I thought the forum was to provide feedback. I was just trying to offer some suggestions and issues I saw with it, didn't realize it would get under your skin.

Don't take it personal with Kithrixx or any other members in the community. Unfortunately, he and others have received a lot of flak from the community for things they have tried to do, which has caused him and many others in his position to be easily irritated (myself included). Take the criticism with a grain of salt and if you felt something was personal either report it to a moderator or settle it by private messaging the parties involved.

I should mention that I don't get irritated over people providing feedback or asking questions or anything like that - I'm just a very blunt individual, and that is often interpreted as me being an abrasive person. You'll know when I'm annoyed or irritated or what have you. ~Kith

Lastly, I would have private message you this Vickhead to prevent thread from going offtopic...., but you don't have private messaging enabled. If you have any questions you can always private message me or any other senior level member of the community.

Although this forum is for feedback, sometimes the feedback is inaccurate. Yes, I agree that there is an issue with the fact that pf is expected to be on the front lines but takes much more rating losses for hits, and shields only magnified the issue. However, it has been proven that it's not that huge of an issue. Shield hits should be disabled in the near future. And the rating system as a whole will be going over a major rework.

I'm sorry if we offended you, but sometimes you have to either admit that your wrong, or agree to disagree.

It is to provide feedback. Your suggestions did not get under my skin, or annoy me, or whatever else my use of profanity for emphasis may have potentially miscommunicated. Now, if you have any other feedback that is not a dig at me, I'd love to hear it.

Please understand that "hits taken" is a number that doesn't mean anything. If you don't like information, then you're silly. If you don't like the effect of counting shield hits, then complain about the effect, not the fact that we are receiving more information.

Also Kith, PF is supposed to take as many hits as marksman (currently). Just keep that in mind when you change rating loss due to hits.

I'm aware. I plan on re-organizing the hit tolerance based on weight class with two exceptions - the Medic and the Pathfinder. Pathfinder will have slightly higher hit tolerance than the other classes, but I'm putting him in his own special weight category of Ultra Light that makes him take a much larger penalty from excessive weight than other classes. Ideally, any more than 30 magazines on him will slow him to a crawl.

Yes Exi, you've proved your point. But that was before shield hit was implemented. Lets see 0 hits with shield hits (current update) as jump PF. That's what I was trying to prove. It COULD be done, but I won't be satisfied until I see proof.

To answer Jake, when I reply to you on forum, it is with full thought and ideas, unlike when I'm raging at you in NOTD channel, however you don't take it that way, and have overlooked all the points I've made. You've yet to prove yourself that you'll take 0 hits under the new shield hit system. It's a no problem under the old system, I understand that and done that with no issue. But if you or any other player can prove to me under the new shield hit system you can get 0 hits as jump PF, and do his/her job protecting the team, I'd be very impressed.
    [hr]
Am I lost? isn't that what I've been saying all along?

So you let assault facetank, and if it is the case of broodlings, you wont save him? 1) If you wont save him, you've already fail your job as PF. 2) If you do decide to save him and take hits under the new shield hit system, then I've proved my point. 3) If you do decide to save him and take no hits, show me the proof.

You've yet proved your case. I know that on paper its possible for jump PF to take 0 hits, but in actuality under the new shield hit system, the probability of that happen is next to zero. I'm still waiting in game so we can do a surv nm, and you play the PF, maybe to show me the ropes.

No, I know I'm not the best player out there, and I probably don't play PF as much as anyone, however YOU claim that you can take 0 hits jumping broodling raping a reckless facetanker, I want YOU to prove that point. Simple as that.
