First off, Tartarus in Recruit Mode.

Has anyone played a public and a vast majority of players end up getting killed during the fight with Tartarus and you are kind of lacking the firepower or kiting capabilities to deal with him such as there only being 3 people left in game and are spread out thanks to either Tartarus itself or the numerous creeps?

Ive had several encounters where he is demi-godlike. The change of the 90% to 75% frontal damage reduction works good but if you can only hit him from the front your damage is made obsolete thanks to his high health regeneration. Also he is very stubborn to be captured these days, shot him 4 times with a Level 3 Monofilament Cartridge and he keeps lugging forward after the stun wears off.

The main problem is just when there are few players left in the game being say 3 or less players. And I personally don't want to have to resolve to cheese tactics to beat him. :p

Instead of become faster in Recruit, he should just become even stronger front armor. Also, the number of stalkers is too much for most new players.

I also think on a whole Easy Co could use more shotguns.

He doesn't become faster in Recruit Mode, that's the higher difficulties. Unless there is a slight difference in our maps.

I'm typically in SR's 1600~1680 in Easy Co. pubs, the hardest part of the game is almost always Tartarus, and Apollo Mining Site. The Ultralisks are always problematic with their spawning, forcing you to actually head up to Airlock before Alpha Starport Defense Objective is finished to hopefully Pop the Ultralisks before Tartarus. Typically the stalker spawns that are around pose a large threat in addition to Tartarus, and his occasional Ultralisk ambushers. As for the Mining Site, its actually been alright at the moment in the pubs I've been in over this weekend, but during the week, there was an instance with almost being overran (SR was above 1700), and at that SR, the spawn amounts are similar to a normal/vet game of Easy Company, but the mission remain different.

Erebos 1 & 2 gets steam-rolled by me though, because I will almost always have Over Drive as Combat Engineer by Erebos 1.

Another issue I see is that, most of those games, after Erebos 2 is baked, The New players do not understand what they are supposed to do at all. At this point, you see them either ramboing/scouting(Some dieing), Staying at airlock or following another person until someone tells them where to go after all Generators are reset (The enemies that were inside of Apollo put out some heat). If there is some method to give them a bit of guidance on what to do there(after Erebos 2), I think it would be best to do so.

Haven't had too much problems with it lately, excepting the Trollgons. That's the wildcard that makes a game where I have 4-6 newbies go from Difficult but Doable to just a straight up disaster. I know they're there. I run all over the area trying to trigger them. Sometimes I get lucky and they pop up beforehand. Sometimes I don't and it pops up right as Tartar Sauce is closing in. Not sure what the trigger is on it anymore. Time delay? Particular pixel patch that I'm just missing? Several players being in certain locations at the same time?

The Stalker slow was a nice touch, and I do admit that lately I haven't seen a dozen plus stalkers all swarming in on that fight over about a 10 second interval anymore.

Had a game with The Man last night in Nightmare Easy Company. Somehow him and several others were gunned down during Pre-Starport Scrap and Wrap, Infestor Alley Segment. I need to go back to the replay and see what happened. The damage being done and the venom stacking up made me think it was one or two Infested Marines on a wall. Seems a bit early to get an Infested Marine spawn. I had Perception Points, so I'm sure it wasn't a Wraith. Gargoyle who was hovering over high ground? Anyway something screwy was going on.

EU pubs lie within 1500-1600 squad rating mostly, players just get their rating sucked out of them somehow. One guy had 13 games played and had a rating of 1437. That is insanely low somehow, you wont have that even having gotten killed in all your games.

Same issue with players running around after Erebos 2 with them either just charging into Apollo or just deciding they gonna camp in the fort and stay there till the games end.

    SOMETHING ELSE
Upon entering the airlock, the people who just decide to go about starting the colonist escort because there are 2 hexes located near it. :( They become an All-You-Can Eat zombie buffet and awhile later after they been munched on do they start screaming. The horror of it.

Sounds like NA pubs are a different breed. We get with almost certainty a few players with "high exp" in each pub, mostly because they couldn't find a channel game or don't have time for a longer match (or play at odd hours). By default this will crank up the sr. Average sr for pubs seems to drift between 1600-1750. Haven't seen an 1800 sr pub in a long time, that usually requires a lot of 400-499 exp players and a few vets.

Night of the Dead to my fortune has reached Page 1 on the Popularity resulting in a vast stream of new players for EU.

To everyone elses misfortune these new players make public games unbearable causing them to create private games. Everyone who is in the NOTD Channel is busy playing the crap out of Alpha Company. If a game isn't available when someone asks they go about creating an Alpha and recruiting players to join. Alot of the players are more Alpha orientated than Easy Company. :p

Note to self: See about a transfer to EU Server.

Love Alpha Company, but it's by far the least common thing I see. Got Easy Company, Survival, Apollo, then Alpha at the end, getting no love.

One thing that Easy Company could use some tweaking on is the Black Ops attack. In both Newbie and Normal mode lately I've noticed their AI is strangely passive. What seems to happen is if you are on the old Black Ops Hill (Where I notice this in particular), about a quarter of them won't move to engage, but instead run around on the road between the old Demeter Mini Hill and the Black Ops hill. This usually results in some disappointing end games where a good 5-10 minutes after Chapter 3 starts and people go "Alright, off hill, we can't hold it anymore and the Queen's almost in our face", there are about 6 Black Ops anywhere between Minihill and Epsilon Mining Site just waiting to murder them.

I'm not sure what they are doing that makes them just mill around and wait. Or why it's a relatively small percentage. I'm not talking about Split Confusion moments, where the team got split into two areas and the Black Ops just mill around in the middle not sure who they want to go after. All the team can be in relatively the same location and just that minority will wait out of sight.

I'm not even sure where NOTD is on NA. I can't find it when I try to search normal custom games, under any options. Yet it has 11k~ bookmarks and thousands of hours played. By all means it should be first page material. I usually just click my bookmarks.

Before the frontal carapace change I've have a number of games wiping at tart with me and maybe one or two others making it further.
Since the change, Tart's been pretty tame.
I find bloodfrenzy and mindblast (even on their own) are generally enough to capture it, from the front that is.

What I do notice is a lot though is that new players do quite well at mining site but semi-experience players (600xp-10000xp) tend to often die or half the team wipes to the mining site spawns in 15xx and 16xx recruit mode.
Personally I can't understand that, because I solo the top bridge on my own while the other 7 deal with the east side. I do find when I stay with the others they don't wipe, but I don't think 1 person really would make this big of a difference there unless the others simply haven't learned how to properly play NOTD.

In terms of the rest of easy co, recruit mode, is that players rarely use their knives and they often will not stand and fight/kite a lone enemy but let it hit them while they move.

People dying post ere2 to a lone ghoul ot 2 they run way from or from a stalker/muta. Yes those beasts hit hard and and take a bit of damage (the stalker that is, not the muta), but it again is down to player error and inability to learn as opposed to actual difficulty.

Stalkers now are mostly fine in recruit mode though I still feel they still have a bit too much HP. Seekers actually are quite dangerous as their size belies the amount of HP they have and new players try to run from something that is impossible to run from. Seekers also hit rather hard and fast.

I think though that in a way those might all need to stay as otherwise players have 0 preparation for vet/nm modes and will get steamrolled there even harder.

So yea, personally I feel recruit mode works quite well now if people stay in a ball together and listen to very basic orders (hit something from behind, use this gun or that gun) and use their brains. But small mistakes can easily cost a new player a life.

I would actually more advocate somehow making items and the fact that they can be picked up more apparent to new players. It is surprising how many people never pick up anything outside of maybe a medkit and go with just gauss rifle and their starting ammo.

That and somehow making it more obvious that there is something called Stats. You tell newbies where to find it and half ignore or cant find it. Then some ask you post-airlock why they cant use their stat points and all you can say is "Oh you need to distribute them before Tartarus"

Players wipe at the Mining Co because they aren't manually reloading. That's really the only difference, because abilities and weapons dont factor in because its so early game.

"Vets" get lazy because its "an easy match" and slack around, then they are unprepared when the sr is too high for the relative skill ingame, and thus they wipe. Also newer players have more lives, so they can survive a long time even if they get swarmed.

I mean the new players survive mining site most of the time without even losing a life while "vets" lose all 2-3.
Newer players mostly tend to stick in a ball though, which is how it should be

Tend to stick in ball huh? A cannon ball aimed at failure.

This has strayed a bit off from the topic of the opening post - Tartarus in Recruit Mode when half the players have wiped.

Even Vets will find him hard if things go bad in their organized games and things go south. Which is exactly what happens in Recruit Mode lots of the time.

I'm not addressing the simple minded new players who only start running away from Tartarus when they are 1 Acid Spew away from being Badly Injured in which case the lives count for nothing when a Baneling comes along. I'm addressing that when "team" becomes "band" or "duo". With that kiting becomes hard and you can't put out enough damage to get somewhere as within a few seconds your damage has been nullified by his health regeneration.

Its a worse case scenario that happens often. To beat Tartarus primarily on your own is childs play but to beat him in the conventional way becomes one hell of a mission.

Splash based attacks seem to always register as hitting tartarus' "front", and get reduced. This is extremely evident with grenades, and most likely because they don't use projectiles like weapons do.

The area where you fight tart is also extremely difficult because theres so many sight blocks and pathing issues.

Would be nifty if those rock spires can be destroyed by splash or line damage same way as how you could destroy several doodads in the WoL Belly of the Beast mission. That really is the thing that makes Tartarus hard, you fight him where the situation does not favor you. Erebos and the Queen you can go fight where you please where you have the advantage.

Another idea is that we could put a fixed spawn of Road Flares in either the Star Port or Epsilon Mining Site. Sure, most don't think of Road Flares being worth a damn other than calling in CWO Saddam Hussein. But the vision they provide could help a lot of newbie mode games at that point. And has the benefit of showing by example just how useful they actually are.

    Nite:
For tartarus and other frontal based enemies you need to face the same direction +- a few degrees in order to damage them. So if you stinger tart from the front and then run away from him, it will count as a backstab + hit from rear. Same with nades.

Similarly, if you are behind him and fire/nade and then move away from him, it counts as a frontal attack which is absorbed.

With regards to the "newbies" don't know where to go after ere2" issue, is it possible to make the objectives shown at the upper left of the screen more visible? like bolded with an animation of sorts/flashing/occasionally glowing neon/red/yellow (any highly noticeable color)?

Have personally seen people who are at 6k who have never noticed the objectives at the upper left.

Or maybe even just get the thing boxed in its own highly visible window. Optional: That can be minimized like the team window/right tab.

I've no suggestions for the magazines/guns not being picked up. :(
